[What. He stops mid-grab as it flies away from his hand, and then stares at Naoto. What kind of strange holiday tradition is that? And why did the gods decide that this was a good idea to trap people together?

Okay with a friend, that wasn't so bad but he was certain not everyone was getting stuck with people they wanted to be with! He bites his lip, looking away.]

And you think that's why we're stuck here?

Yes. [She sounds resigned to it in fact. Her blush is more obvious as she looks up slightly. But she's quick to avert her gaze again out of embarrassment.

[He's not stupid, he sees her blushing and for a second, just thinks at how adorable she looks like that. Suddenly, he takes her into a hug, hoping that will maybe calm her nerves.]

[Well, not only did Rock seem to be chill with being around Naoto the more the two actually had spent time together in their own... oddly distant way, but to the fact that he had grown comfortable to being around a woman that didn't make him go into a nervous wreck is always a huge plus for him! Especially in a normal setting like-- well, attending a special party for one of Naoto's clients for whatever case she's on isn't exactly normal, but it is a huge difference between their 'initial' meeting spots.

Oh, hey Naoto. Here's a cup of punch being offered to you from your kinda-sorta bodyguard friend.]

Here. Looks like this stuff isn't spiked with anything since I haven't seen anybody passed out from it yet, so it should be good to keep refreshed once in a while. [And he takes a drink from his own cup as he stands next to the small detective and glance around at the party and the other guests invited.] This place has too much high class people for my tastes... did you get in touch with your client about more info about this case yet?

[She's dressed classy in spirit of the party... though to be fair she usually dressed a little classy. Or maybe "uptight" was the better word. She chose to wore a suit if only because in this kind of a situation it was easiest. Dresses and heels were hard to move in. Not only that but such things just wasn't her style anyway.

Her gaze seems to be drawn on someone across the room for a long moment... but after a pause she finally glances up at him.]

Yes, I did. I spoke to them earlier while you were away. I'm not certain why they wanted me to attend this as a criteria for more information but it seems to have served its purpose. Of course they also told me I have to stay for a certain number of hours so I can't leave yet. [They kept their promise so... she had to keep hers. As weird as it was but this client was a family friend so such an eccentric request was all right this time.]

[Classy or no, at least Naoto knew how to fit in with the group with the formalities and proper attire. Rock, on the other hand, is... well... as formal as he can get with his own funds. He's here to be the meat shield for Naoto, so he didn't really consider the party to be something like this!

His eyes did follow her gaze at that particular 'someone' she was looking at, although he tried to hide his staring by making it look like he was gazing at everyone else that has attended to the party. And upon hearing her explanation, all he could do is give her a pat on the shoulder.]

Well, if that's how it is then it looks like we'll be around for a long night. It's all good though. I'm not in a rush to go anywhere, and when was the last time we could properly relax like this anywhere anyway? Might as well enjoy it while it lasts. [And as much as he wanted to ask what else she had spoken with the client, it'll be both a bad idea in case someone is listening and because he'd probably get lost over most of the situation. Who knows if corporate politics or family feuding is involved or what.]

Gotta admit though. Didn't think the party would be this particularly festive. Almost feels like a formal ball party than a christmas one. Then again, this is probably what the normal life is like for people on this side of the financial end.

[ Dave was just sprawled out on the bed. Sorta lost in thought, as per usual. When you stopped to consider how many crazy things these kids had to process on a daily basis... It was a wonder they weren't more affected by it.

It would take a lot more than being swept up in the creation myths of multiple universes to phase a Strider. That's what Dave told people, anyway.

When he rolled over on the bed, he was nearly nose to nose with the bed's other occupant, Jade. She looked cute when she was sleeping. He probably looked different too, actually, when he realized he hadn't had his shades on for over an hour. That had been a... fairly busy hour for them, not that Jade would ever get bored or tired. he suspected she was just curled up waiting for him to get rested up so they could continue.

The end of the universe was on the horizon... they had to make the most of this short time they had left. What better time than the holidays right? Not that it snowed out in whatever void they were stuck in now, but nonetheless. A little ways above them, the little sprig that had started everything earlier just swayed slightly in some phantom breeze. ]
